The company + my role..
AutoLoop is a piece of software used by car dealerships to help those dealerships with marketing, customer follow up and ROI tracking.
I worked as a UI designer and developer and also led a team as Scrum Master.
Technologies I used were..
- Photoshop
- Balsamiq
- HTML
- CSS
- LESS
- AngularJS
- C#
- ASP.NET
- Git
- GitHub
Designing and developing! 💥
I designed and developed interfaces based on client and stakeholder requests. Clients included Subaru and Mercedes-Benz. Many interfaces required many points of data to be displayed tabularly to the dealership, so my designs had to be uncluttered with a solid execution of data visualization and visual hierarchy.
How did it work?
I worked in an ASP.NET environment, and used HTML, LESS, pure JavaScript and AngularJS in some products, along with C#. We used TortoiseGit for revision control and Fogbugz as a backlog!
The process
I worked with our engineering team, marketing, and client managers to determine the direction of the designs. Some brands/dealerships had one-off reports that required communication between myself and the client manager to determine the designs met the needs of the client. The process usually broke down as such:
- Meet with client to determine data needed
- Consult with the engineering team to determine if we had access to that data
- Once confirmed, begin sketches and wireframing of designs
- Send wireframes to client point of contact/manager, and make revisions if necessary
- Create final high-fidelity mockups for client review
- Develop out the design when client is ready
Along with designs, I would also help maintain existing pages, and ensure that the brand guidelines of our clients were adhered to - for example, the proportions of the client's logo and the colors it appeared over. I also worked as a Scrum Master for this role. I held daily stand-ups with my team, along with backlog meetings and retro meetings.
